How Bendul Zamrud Came to Be
Bendul Zamrud was established in Kuala Terengganu in 2009 with a single aim: to offer families a calm and unhurried place to work through the legal dimensions of loss. The name reflects the character of the practice — settled, considered and rooted in this part of Terengganu.
The founders observed that most families approaching an estate matter did not primarily need speed. They needed clarity — about what was required of them, what could safely wait and what the law would and would not permit. That observation has shaped how the office works to this day.
Over the years the practice has developed particular depth in matters that sit at the boundary of civil estate law and the Faraid provisions applicable under the Terengganu Enactment — an area of frequent misunderstanding, and one where careful advice can prevent difficulty for years to come.
What We Are Here to Do

Called to the Malaysian Bar in 2004 and has practised exclusively in estate and inheritance matters since 2009. Holds advisory standing on Faraid questions arising under the Terengganu Enactment.

How the Office Operates
Malaysian Bar Membership
All solicitors at Bendul Zamrud hold current practising certificates issued by the Malaysian Bar and are subject to its professional conduct rules.
Written Engagement Letters
Every instruction is confirmed in writing before work begins. The engagement letter sets out the scope, the fee and the persons responsible. There are no verbal-only arrangements.
Regular Progress Updates
Clients receive written progress notes at each material stage of their matter. If circumstances change the plan, the family is told promptly and in plain language.
Client Confidentiality
Information shared with the office is not disclosed to third parties without clear written authority. This applies to all communications, documents and records held on file.
Conflict of Interest Checks
Before accepting any instruction, the office checks for conflicts of interest across all current and recent matters. Where a conflict exists, the family will be advised and referred appropriately.
Transparent Fee Accounting
Client funds are held in a designated client account and are accounted for separately from the practice's own funds. A full disbursement statement is provided at the close of every matter.

The office is experienced in coordinating across distances and in liaising with institutions and registries in other states when the estate requires it.
Our approach to Faraid advisory work is one of honest description rather than recommendation. We explain what the applicable provisions require, where a civil instrument such as a will can operate alongside them and where it cannot.
