What Distinguishes Our Approach

Transparent Written Plans

Every instruction begins with a written plan naming each stage, the persons responsible and the anticipated timeframe. Revisions are shared openly whenever circumstances change.

Faraid and Civil Law Expertise

The office holds knowledge in both civil estate law and the Faraid principles applicable under Terengganu state enactments, and will advise on how both may interact in a given estate.

Unhurried Process

Meetings are arranged at whatever point a family feels ready. There is no pressure to proceed and no follow-up unless the client invites it.

Fixed, Stated Fees

Fees are discussed and agreed before work begins. They do not change without prior notification and written consent. There are no charges you have not been told about.

Whole-Family Approach

Families may bring as many relatives as they wish to any meeting. The office understands that estate matters are rarely the concern of one person alone.

Strict Confidentiality

All communications and instructions are treated as private. The office does not discuss client matters with third parties without clear written authority.

Take the First Step

A Meeting Carries No Obligation to Proceed

If you are not yet certain what assistance is needed, the Bereavement Advice Meeting is designed precisely for that situation. You leave with a written note and a clear picture of the steps ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions Families Often Raise

What should a family do in the days immediately after a bereavement?

The most pressing matters are the registration of the death and the securing of any property. Beyond those, most administrative steps can wait until the family is ready. The Bereavement Advice Meeting is designed for precisely this early period and can be arranged as soon or as late as suits those involved.

How long does estate administration typically take?

For straightforward estates, the process is commonly six to twelve months. Where an estate includes business interests, land titles or beneficiaries who need to be traced, twelve to twenty-four months is more realistic. The office provides a written estimate at the outset and updates families as the work proceeds.

Does a Muslim client need a will if Faraid rules already govern distribution?

A will can still serve important functions for a Muslim client — including the appointment of an executor, directions for the care of dependants and the management of assets that fall outside Faraid scope. The office will explain what a will can and cannot govern in a client's specific situation, without recommending any particular arrangement.

What fees should we expect?

A Bereavement Advice Meeting is RM 170. Will and codicil drafting begins at RM 355. Full administration of a complex estate begins at RM 640. All fees are discussed and agreed before any work begins; there are no costs you have not been advised of in advance.

Will the office contact us after the initial meeting if we do not engage further?

No. The office does not follow up after a Bereavement Advice Meeting unless the family asks it to. You are welcome to return at any later point, and the notes provided at the meeting will remain useful whenever you are ready.

Can several family members attend the same meeting?

Yes. Families are encouraged to bring as many relatives as they wish. Estate matters concern more than one person, and it is often useful for all parties to hear the same information at the same time.
